Social Web and Art Education

Most art teachers feel isolated at where they teach because s/he is the only art teacher in the school. They are longing for interaction and collaboration with other art teachers. On the other hand, there are many problems in education and in life that are too complex to be solved by individuals. Even if it is possible to be solved by one person, most of time, collaborative efforts would result in better outcomes. Social Web is in its infancy for solving our problems. My current teaching and research interest is to explore how social web/social media can improve aspects of art education, from knowledge construction, to curriculum design, learning in the artroom, outreach, and more. Of course, I won't be finding the answers to the question all by myself. Soon, I will have opportunities to explore the answers with art teachers at Plymouth-Canton Community Schools and art education students taking my classes. Will share with you some of our findings ...
